David Lieberman has more than 35 years' experience in the legal profession, with particular expertise in the field of competition and consumer protection.
In February 2010, he was a member of the Expert Panel which reported to the Minister for Small Business on "Strengthening statutory unconscionable conduct and the Franchising Code of Conduct".
David was full time Commissioner with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) from 1995-1998.
For more than 25 years David held various senior roles within IBM, both in Australia (where he was General Counsel) and overseas. In addition, he was Company Secretary, Director of Government and Community Relations, Director of Security Operations and Director and Deputy General Counsel of IBM's Asia Pacific Operations based in Tokyo.
David is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales, the Law Council of Australia's Trade Practices Committee, the American Bar Association's Antitrust Section, the Australian Compliance Institute and the Australian Information Industry Association's Legal Committee.
David trained as a mediator at Harvard and is a nationally accredited mediator. He is a mediation panellist under the Franchise Code of Conduct, the Oil Code, the Horticultural Code and the Service Providers Action Network (Telecommunications).
